Colleen A.
Taylor
February 23, 1965 – March 1, 2024
Colleen A. Taylor, age 59, of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Christiana Hospital.
Colleen was born in Wilmington and predeceased by her divorced parents, Joann Carlin Taylor and David R. Taylor. Colleen graduated from Delcastle Vocational High School, Class of 1983. She graduated from Goldey Beacom College earning dual Associates Degrees in Office Administration and Accounting. Colleen joined the DuPont Company in 1990 as an IT Database Resource. She held the positions of Legal Patent Secretary and Intellectual Property Legal Assistant until her retirement in late 2014 after 24 years of service. After leaving DuPont, Colleen became the key caregiver for her mother who suffered from advanced dementia and declining health. They became very close during this difficult period; Colleen was devastated when her mother passed. They were always great friends in addition to being mother and daughter. A special highlight in their lives was their trip to Ireland in 2000. After her mother's passing in February 2020, Colleen was employed as a receptionist/office coordinator/scheduler at Woodlyn Physical Therapy in Newark, Delaware.
In her younger years, Colleen's favorite activity was square dancing and round dancing. She was member of clubs in both Delaware and Maryland and participated in regional conventions as well. She always spoke so highly of the callers and cuers and her fellow dancers. Colleen loved listening to music, watching movies, her beloved Phillies and Eagles, spending time with family and friends, and road trips with her sister/copilot Carol. Carol quickly learned to keep her back-seat driving to a minimum.
Colleen is survived by her siblings, Anne T. Hudson of Wilmington, Carol E. Taylor of Wilmington, Thomas D. Taylor and his wife Diane of Altoona, PA, and Kathleen J. Casey of Nesquehoning, PA; nieces, Kelly Hudson-Serpico and Sharon Casey; nephew, Jake Hudson; grandniece, Arya Casey; grandnephew, Braedon Casey.
The Taylor family would like to thank the many physicians, medical personnel, physical therapists, and counselors who provided Colleen with excellent healthcare and emotional support.
A visitation for Colleen will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may call from 10-11 am, with a memorial service following at 11 am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Colleen's name to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 165 Airport Rd, New Castle, DE 19720.
