Clyde Kenneth Dossett of Wilmington, Delaware, age 87 died peacefully on 12-24-2024. His son Gary predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Donna Luff Dossett, daughter Karen Giordano, granddaughter Gabrielle Giordano, and Karen's and Gary's mother Phyllis Dossett. He was born in Rusk, Texas to Mitchie Lee Skinner Dossett and Homer Dossett. He graduated from Rusk High School and attended Baylor University.
Clyde served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in England. Then he joined the National Weather Service as a meteorologist in Florida. His career included flying into the eye of hurricanes to both study them and to "seed" them in an attempt to weaken the storms. At the time of his retirement, he was advising pilots about weather conditions at the Wilmington Airport (ILG).
Clyde was an outstanding athlete. He skied in western U.S. and Canada and in Europe with the Wilmington Ski Club into his late 70s. In Delaware's Senior Games (formerly known as Delaware Senior Olympics) he earned medals in track and field events which allowed him to compete in the national games.
Clyde and Donna enjoyed learning adventures in beautiful parts of the United States, the Caribbean, countries on the European and African continents, and Antarctica.
A celebration of Clyde's life will be held in March or April.
