Clarence E. Cox, 85 of Hockessin passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 23, 2021 at The Summit Assisted Living.
Clarence was born in Ashland, DE the son of the late Laura Anna (Hanna) and Lorenzo "Lewis" Price Cox. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired as a millwright from National Vulcanized Fiber. Clarence also worked as a farmer, landscaper, carpenter and painter as an employee of several estates in the area; he was also self-employed. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved helping his kids and step kids with home improvement projects. He was a regular at the Crossroads Diner and at Dickinson theater organ concerts. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Ruth Webb Cox in 2020 and eight of his siblings, Laura, Eva, Lewis, Florence, Lillian, Grace, Mary and Charlotte.
Clarence is survived by his son Stephenson T. Cox, Sr. (Angela) of Camden-Wyoming; his daughter Tammy Maggitti (Mike) of Elkton, MD; his grandchildren, Jocelyn, Stephenson II, Shannon, Mikayla and Rebekah; his great-grandchildren, Keith, Caroline and Eliana; His brothers, George of Hockessin and Howard of Centreville; his stepchildren Stephen Dudkewitz (Jill) and Ray Dudkewitz (Patty) all of Newark, and Dianne Roque (Tomas) of Elkton, MD; his step-grandchildren Mathieu, Kristi, Aaron, Morgan and Dalton; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, where a service will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 West Church Road, Newark, DE 19711.
