Age 93, a volunteer and longtime, happy resident of Little Sisters of the Poor (Jeanne Jugan Residence), died in the company of her loved ones on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Claire loved the Little Sisters, the staff, and the residents of Jeanne Jugan tenderly. Claire's family is full of gratitude for all their kindness over the years. Claire was born in Chester, PA, on July 5, 1922, the only daughter of Adeline and Thomas Marvel. She was preceded in death by her five brothers James, Thomas, Norman, Robert, and John.Claire was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by her three children: Liz Slater and her husband Tom of Middletown, DE; Charlie Moloney and his wife Donna of Hockessin, DE; and Kathleen Leahy and her husband Hugh of Lewes, DE. Claire was filled with love and devotion to her nine grandchildren: Mary Russell and her husband JP; Meghan Claire Leahy and her husband Mark Rasevic; Carolyn Moloney; Kathy Ouma and her husband Geoff; Laura Moloney; Ann Lewandowski and her husband Steve; Hugh Leahy and his wife Ivelina; and Jimmy and Katie Moloney. Her long life was also blessed her with nine great-grandchildren: Veronica Slater and Jude Ouma; Sophia Claire, Louise Kathleen, and Genevieve Marina Rasevic; Ronan Russell; Max and Miles Lewandowski; and Rada Kathleen Leahy.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on September 26, at 11:00 AM, at Little Sisters of the Poor 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713 where friends may call after 10:00 AM.
