Claire Eileen Mitchell, age 71, of Ventnor City, NJ, formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away surrounded by her family on February 17th, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Eileen (Crumlish) and William J. Weaver. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in Elsmere, DE and was a homemaker for her family. Together for 54 years, Claire and her husband Wayne began their relationship when they were 17. They enjoyed their annual trips to "The Shore" and made countless memories since first visiting in 1976. She also enjoyed annual day trips to Lancaster with her sister, Lin. To say Claire had a way with children is an understatement. Known affectionately by some as the 'baby whisperer', children were drawn to Claire's energy and her childlike heart. She enjoyed spending her free time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Claire is predeceased by her brother, William "Chip" Weaver, and her brothers-in-law, Edward Mitchell and Thomas Tourish. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wayne Mitchell; her son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Sharon Mitchell; her grandchildren, Samantha and Stella; her sisters, Lin Tourish and Karen Weaver; her sisters-in-law, Cynthia Mitchell and Denise Catlett (Randy); and her granddog, Pepper.

Funeral services will be held privately.
