Christopher Justin Spell, age 43, of Newark, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Chris was born in Charleston, SC, son of Chester Spell and the late Belinda (Kesler) Spell. Chris graduated from Rutgers University and went on to become a Statistical Analyst at the University of Delaware. In his younger years, Chris was an extremely talented baseball player and played internationally as a member of the New Zealand National Team. Chris's family and friends described him as a kind, caring, and loving person who was always there for anyone in their time of need. In his free time, Chris loved spending time and hiking with his dog, Hank, cheering on his beloved Atlanta Braves, gardening, cooking, and being a handyman.

Chris is survived by his father, Chester Spell; brother, Anthony Spell; sister, Maria Spell; life partner, Laura Francis; aunt and uncle, Thomasine (Tim) Shaw; cousins, Pete and Rachel; uncle, Wayne Kesler; aunt, Debbie Kesler; cousins, Katie and Alex; and numerous close family friends whom he all loved.

Services for Chris will be held privately.
