Christopher J. Dickson, "Digger", 66 of Wilmington passed on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Chris was born in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late Claire (Bullen) and William C. Dickson. He graduated from St. Ann's Grade School, Salesianum School in 1977 and attended the University of Delaware. He received the nickname Digger while playing football in high school and it stuck for the rest of his life.
Chris worked in media sales for Clear Channel and Vector for over 30 years while living in Wilmington and Columbia, MD. He was known for his kindness, love, humor, and above all was a devoted husband and a proud father. He could be found attending all of his children's sporting events, always their biggest supporter. In his early years, Chris loved playing football for Sallies and served as senior class president. His love for sports never faded, he could always be found cheering on the Eagles and the Phillies. Chris lived his life guided by a strong and steady faith. In addition to his parents, Chris was predeceased by his brother, William C. Dickson, Jr., and his sister, Regina Dickson Kinnally.
Chris will be dearly missed by his wife of 39 years, Janis M. (Bozentka) Dickson; his children, Kelley Dickson and her fiancé, Peter DeLuca, Christopher "CJ" Dickson, Corey Dickson and his fiancée, Katherine Trant, all of Philadelphia; his sister Johanna "Jody" Poole; several brother and sister in laws, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4107 Weldin Road, Wilmington on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM. Burial will be private.
