Chester Allen Mellinger III of Wilmington, DE, age 60, passed away peacefully on Monday November 4, 2024.

Chester was born July 24, 1964 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was a graduate from a private Quaker high school in Westtown, PA. Shortly after, he went on to graduate from Emerson College in Boston, MA.

Chester had many hobbies and passions in life, one of his favorites was acting in a number of dramatic plays in Delaware and Philadelphia including two plays with Chapel Street Players and Shakespeare play in Philadelphia as well as in high school. In between acting, Chester worked at Longwood Gardens fine dining restaurant as a waiter for many years.

He is survived by his mother Ellen Friar. His father was Chester A. Mellinger II who died young in an accident.  He was adopted by his stepfather Lawrence B. Friar.  Also, cousins Bobby Lynch, William Lynch, James Lynch and Susan Brandt; second cousins, Chance Hayes, Jonathan Dellagatta; and two aunts, Trudy Singer and Nancy Lynch.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM, with services starting at 10:30AM at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow at Hockessin Friends Cemetery.
