Charles David Sammons, "Chuck", 62 of Millsboro passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his home.

Chuck was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Nancy (Smith) and Francis J. Sammons. He graduated from St. Elizabeth High School and served on the Wilmington Police Department from 1982 to 1991. Chuck then pursued a career as a welfare fraud investigator and ended his career working as a civilian for the Wilmington Police.

Chuck was always known as the funny guy with that ornery smile who made friends with everyone. In addition to his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his wife, Kathy Sammons and son Charles Sammons, Jr.

Chuck will be missed by his daughter, Amanda Sammons (Jeffrey Hutchison); his granddaughters, Abigail and Kaylee; his siblings and their spouses, Francis J., Jr. and Joanne Sammons, Ann and Scot Sowden, Michael and Kathy Sammons, Joseph and Holly Sammons and Sara and Perry Douglas, all of Wilmington; his partner, Karen Blume; his furry companion, Sandy and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 10 AM to 11 AM. A prayer service will begin at 11 AM. Burial will be private.
