Catherine Z. Wright "Kay", 89 of Hockessin passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday, August 25, 2017.Kay was born in Hazelton, PA, the daughter of the late Saraphina (Battaglia) and Michaelangelo P. Zengo. She was a 1946 graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and worked many years before retiring as a public health and school nurse, lastly at Maple Lane School. Kay and her husband, Bob also owned real estate in Broadkill Beach and operated the grocery store there for many years. She was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered with the St. Francis Junior Board and enjoyed travelling around the country. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Robert Ivan Wright, Jr. and her granddaughter, Melissa Wright.Kay will be missed by her husband, Robert Ivan Wright, with whom she just celebrated 62 years of marriage on August13th; her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Pam Wright of Townsend, DE and her grandsons, Carl and Matthew Wright and Michael Cariello.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707, where friends may call after 10 AM. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the church at the above address.
