Caroline A. Rutkowski, age 91, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on January 2, 2026, surrounded by family.

A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Delaware, Caroline was the daughter of the late John B. Kossek and Frances M. (Johnston) Kossek.  She is predeceased by her loving husband of 29 years, William C. Rutkowski. Caroline retired from working as a teacher aid with Red Clay School District.

A beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Caroline loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed making crafts with her grandchildren and going on trips to the beach together.  She also liked reading, coloring, word searches with facts, working on puzzles, embroidery and watching the bluebirds and hummingbirds in the backyard.  For many, she was home away from home.  She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brother, Jack Kossek, and sister, Margaret Kossek Truax; her four children, Bill Rutkowski, Joan Byrd (Robert), Antoinette Rutkowski, Karen Minch (Robert); and her four grandchildren, Bobby, Kristen, Julianna, and Robby.

A visitation for Caroline will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at St. John the Beloved Roman Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends and family may call from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:30 A.M.  Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
