Obituary

Carl A. Wilson, age 98, of Hockessin, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025.

Born on April 20, 1927, in Camden, NJ, Carl grew up in New Jersey, where his remarkable athletic talent made him stand out on the football field and basketball court. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before attending Glassboro State Teachers College, earning a degree in education. He later completed his Master's degree at the University of Delaware, setting the stage for a dedicated career in public education.

Carl spent three decades shaping schools and supporting students as a principal and administrator in the New Castle and Mount Pleasant School Districts in Delaware. After retiring, he embarked on a second career with a travel agency-an unexpected but joyful chapter that allowed him and his beloved wife, Dorothy, to see the world together.

Lifelong athleticism pulsed through everything Carl did. Whether he was playing golf or tennis, being recognized for his high-school football achievements, or cheering on his beloved Eagles, he brought energy and enthusiasm to every game. He also cherished the simple pleasure of taking long drives with Dorothy, wandering down back roads just to discover something new.

Carl was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, the love of his life. He is survived by his three daughters-Cheryl Wilson Stoy, Lark Brennan Howard, and Donna Wilson Zito; his grandchildren, Tony and Carla Zito; and his great-grandchildren, Natalia and Jayden.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Carl's name to the American Red Cross.
