Arlene Mary
Duffy
February 4, 1939 – February 13, 2023
Arlene Mary Duffy, age 84, of Selbyville DE. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February13, 2023.
Arlene was born February 4, 1939 in Camden, NJ to parents Mary (DiNicola) and Walter Robinson. She graduated from Camden High School and went on to obtain certification as an X-Ray technician. She worked as an X-Ray technician, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden NJ until 1962.
Arlene met and fell in love with Robert Duffy, they were married in 1962. They settled in Newark, Delaware and had two children, Colleen and Brian. She spent her early married years as a homemaker raising her family. After her children were grown, she found fulfillment for years as a volunteer for Delaware Hospice. With her family, she enjoyed adventures skiing and traveling. Her favorite place she ever traveled, was Italy, where she even climbed Mount Vesuvius! Arlene also loved to read. If there was a particularly good book she was reading, she couldn't put it down, and would stay up all night to finish it. Dancing, perhaps, was her favorite activity of all. Even in her 80's, she could not wait for Friday dance night at the Elks club! In addition to her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert F. Duffy in 1999.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Jim) Ryder; son, Brian (Peggy) Duffy; granddaughter, Taylor Ryder; and numerous close family and friends whom she all loved.
Services and burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Arlene's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org)
