Age 87, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Manor Care in Pike Creek surrounded by his family.Born in Cumberland, MD, Bob was the son of the late Andrianus H. and Myra C. (Rose) Vanderhout. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Afterward, he was a graduate of Shepherd University in West Virginia and worked as an engineer for Hercules for many years until his retirement. He was a former member of the Elks Club. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son, Michael Robert Vanderhout and his brothers, Floyd Vanderhout and Leo "Sandy" Vanderhout.Bob will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Park) Vanderhout; his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory A. and Ann Marie Vanderhout of Newark, DE; his beloved grandchildren, Tara Marie Justice, Zachary Robert and Ashton "Dutch" Vanderhout; his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Gerald Cosgrove of Olney, MD; his brother, Francis Dale Vanderhout of Cumberland, MD; and his father-in-law, Cecil Elmo Smith of Frostburg, MD.Funeral services will be private.
