Annie  Mae McDannell, 83 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Christiana Hospital with her family by her side.

Ann was born March 7, 1941 in Wilkes County, NC. She retired from MBNA housekeeping department in 2005. Ann loved bowling, trips to Delaware Park, playing cards and scrabble nights and her passion was gardening. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was the last of eight children and was preceded in death by her mother Lennie M. Church; sisters, Virginia Daniel and Irene O'Dell; brothers, twins James and Johnny Church, Virgil Church, and twins Ed and Jimmy Wood. In addition to her siblings, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard V. McDannell, Sr. in March 2001 after 43 years of marriage; her daughters, Victoria Lynn Elsayed and Patricia Ann Trusty; her son, Leonard V. McDannell, Jr.; and her grandson, James McDannell.

Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Joseph DegliObizzi of Hockessin; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen McDannell of Millsboro; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Sam Cutrona, Joseph and Michelle DegliObizzi, Daniel and Brittany DegliObizzi, Sean McDannell and David McDannell ; great grandchildren, Olivia and Dominic Cutrona; Owen, Drew, Alex, and Reid DegliObizzi and James and Bella McDannell; sister-in-laws, Hilda Church and Phyllis McDannell; brother in-law, Keith Daniel; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:00am. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Faithful Friends Animal Society.
