Alphonsus Francis
Evanousky
July 30, 1924 – March 14, 2023
Alphonsus Francis Evanousky, 98, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023, with family by his side.
Al (also known as Funcy), was born in Shenandoah, PA, to Marcella (Nenortas) and John Evanousky, Lithuanian immigrants. He met and married Lois Davidson and they began their family in their beloved Shenandoah, later relocating to Wilmington Delaware. Al worked as a machinist and served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII in France and Germany in reconnaissance units. He was very proud of his Lithuanian heritage and that he and his 3 brothers served their country in the war and remarkably all came home. He loved candy, the beach, swimming and grocery shopping, but mostly being with his family.
In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Lois, in 2022. His family takes comfort knowing Funcy and Chloe are forever reunited. The family would like to thank his aides and nurses at Gilpin Hall for his care there the last 10 months. Al is also predeceased by his brothers Peter, John and Joseph Evanousky, and his sisters Anna Burchess, Mary Reese and Dorothy Testa.
He will be dearly missed by his two children, Linda Chieffi and her husband, Vito and Robert "Bob" Evanousky and his wife, Marilyn. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stephanie Chieffi (Brian Warrick), Vito Chieffi, Jr. (Amy), Annie Glanden (Mark), Robert Evanousky, Kristy Logan (Aaron), Amber Evanousky (Jim Fox); and great-grandchildren Austin, Colton, Kendyl, Olivia, Fiona, Stella, Adeline and Emma.
A visitation will be held at St. John the Beloved Church on Wednesday March 22nd from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 A.M. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to either Alzheimers' Association, 399 Market St #250, Philadelphia, PA 19106, or Conquering CHD, 37 Kessel Court Suite 205, Madison, WI 53711.
