Alice R. Heckler, age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed away surrounded by her family on November 19, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital. Alice was born in New Castle, Delaware and graduated from St. Peter's grade school and high school. She worked for over 20 years as a Customer Service Representative at Wilmington Trust and 20 years at Walmart. Alice was a longtime parishioner of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Alice loved all kinds of music and enjoyed dancing. She was very good at playing cards, especially her favorite game, 500 rummy. She also enjoyed crocheting and word searches in her free time. Alice's greatest joy was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her mother, Julia Taylor; her husband, William Heckler, Sr.; her fiancé, Carl McVey; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Heckler; and her siblings, Shirley and Caroline Taylor, Helen Calloway, Frank Zdina, and David Miller. Alice is survived by her children and their spouses, William Heckler, Jr., Angela and Mark Green, and Carla and Brian Roth; her grandchildren, Jessica, Elizabeth, Leigh, Craig, Mark, Jr. (Dee), and Christina; her great grandchildren, Hunter, Alex, Owen, Andrea, Craig, Jr., Mark, III, Dillon, Riley, Sean, Destiny, Stephen and Faith; her brothers, William "Bill" Taylor (Sal) and Eddie Conway; and her sister, Judy. A visitation will be held at the Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 on Tuesday November 23, 2021 from 5:30-7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday November 24, 2021 at 10 A.M at St. Matthew's Catholic Church 901, 901 E Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
