Alfred J. Nai, 88 of Exton, PA formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Alfred was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Jennie (Giannone) and Nello Nai. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Goldey Beacom College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Naval Reserve.
Al worked in personnel at NVF and Chrysler before working in sales for The Farmer in the Dell restaurant chain, Action Paper & Chemical Company and then Printz Produce. He was a lifelong Cardinals baseball fan, umpired for local leagues for 18 years and then worked as an usher for the Delaware Blue Hens sports teams and the Wilmington Blue Rocks for over 20 years each. He also enjoyed his time working at the Delaware Dept of Elections where he was a supervisor. He was a former member of St. John the Beloved Church.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, wife, Bernadette in 2017, and his brother Albert Nai in 2001.
Alfred is survived by his daughters, April Brockson and her husband, Frank and Lee Ann Nai and his grandson, Alex Brockson and his lovely wife, Lauren. He is also survived by sisters Eleanor Hall and Norma Frederick of Wilmington and many cousins, nieces, and nephews with whom he enjoyed lots of happy times. He was blessed with the greatest group of friends who were always ready to lend a hand when needed.
He spent 2022 at Sunrise Senior Living where he made many new friends and entertained the staff and residents with his gifts of whistling and writing poetry. The family would like to express sincere thanks for the love and care he received there and from Willow Tree Hospice in the last week.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road on Wednesday morning, January 4th at 10 AM, where services will begin at 11 AM. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
In closing, to all his friends and family as he was so fond of saying, "Ciao for now from Al".
