Alexander "Alex" J. Krajewski, age 68, of Smyrna, DE passed away on January 30, 2019. Born in Wilmington, Alex was the son of the late Sophie (Tomczak) and Henry Krajewski. He was an infantryman in the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division-"Garry Owen", 2nd of the 8th Cavalry. SGT Krajewski was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, 2 US Army Vietnam Campaign Medals, South Vietnamese Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Award and the Combat Infantry Badge which is only awarded to infantrymen who engaged the enemy in combat. He graduated from Salesianum School, class of 1968 and Delaware Technical Community College with an Associate's degree in IT. He went on to serve as the State of Delaware, Chief of Support Services, Division of Motor Vehicles.Alex is survived by his partner of 13 years, Terry Gallagher; his step children, Danielle and Matthew Gallagher; his brothers, John and Kenneth Krajewski; his nieces and nephews, Carrie Crowther, Jamie and Jeff Krajewski; his cousin, Lorraine Hagerty and husband Joe; his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Bogart; his lifelong and closest friend, Bill Okoniewski and wife Debbie.A visitation was held on Friday February 8th, 2019 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. followed by a short memorial service at 1 PM at the Mealey Funeral Home at 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE. 19808. A committal service with military honors will be held at the New Castle County Veterans Cemetery on 17 May 2019 at 11 A.M.
