Albert "Al" Andrew Szczepanek, age 79, of Newark, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Al was born in Wilmington, son of the late Stella and Stanley Szczepanek Sr. Al graduated from P.S DuPont high school and went on to work as a warehouse attendant at Thermo Fisher Scientific until his retirement. In his younger years, Al was a professional roller skater, and would compete with his wife, Bernadette, in different competitions. Al was an avid Elvis Presley fan and loved collecting anything Elvis, and visiting Graceland. In his free time, Al was also a photographer/videographer and opened his own company, Keepsake Video Inc. In addition to his parents, Al was also predeceased by his brother, Stanley Szczepanek Jr.

Al is survived by his loving wife Mary Bernadette Szczepanek; brother, Joseph Szczepanek; nephew, Bill (Joanne) Hedrick; and numerous close family friends whom he all loved.

A visitation for Al will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may call from 10am to 11am with a memorial service following at 11am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
