Albert C. "Big Al"
Jannette, Iii
November 8, 1949 – November 16, 2024
Albert C. Jannette III (Big Al), age 75, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, with his two daughters by his side.
Albert was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Phyllis and Albert Jannette II. He graduated from Cardinal O'Hara High School in 1968. Afterwards, he went on to attend Temple University earning his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Al spent a successful career working on many Deldot construction projects and other major consulting jobs, specifically KCI Technologies.
Al had many passions throughout his life. He loved traveling and had an ongoing fascination for all things history - whether it be books or films. In his high school years, Al formed a local band and enjoyed playing the guitar. In his 20s he loved riding his chopper motorcycle with his buddies listening to music. Al later began his fitness journey in his 30s at Gold's Gym and for years competed in several prestigious competitions, winning numerous awards, and eventually earning the title of Mr. Delaware. He had a passion for lifting weights in the gym, ultimately moving to the Training Center in New Castle to continue his bodybuilding career. Al made dozens of lifting friends and always took time to spot a fellow weightlifter or help someone improve their form. Big Al was a big force in the gym.
Albert is survived by his loving daughters and spouses, Michelle Dougherty (Ryan) of Hockessin, DE and Danielle Arce (Nicolas) of Newark, DE; his brother Robert Jannette (Jeanette); and his grandchildren, Jordyn, Gabriela, Antonio, Jo Anna, Cristiano and Leo.
Funeral services for Albert will be held privately.
