Age 64, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Quincy, MA, William was the son of the late John J. and Margaret (Miller) Ward. He served his country proudly in the US Navy, retiring from service after 21 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Afterward, he worked as an electronic technician for PSE&G in Salem, NJ, and retired again after 21 years in 2012. He was a member of IBEW #94 and St. Elizabeth Seton Church. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his brother, Daniel and sister, Janice. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 44 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Curley) Ward; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and David Coburn of Smyrna, DE; his sons and daughters-in-law, William J. II and Laura of Bear, DE, Christopher and Tera of Hockessin, DE and Joseph and Stephanie of Charlotte, NC; and his beloved grandchildren, Amanda (David), Matthew, Kyle, Caitlyn and Billy III. Also surviving are his brothers, Larry (Linda) of Texas and Kenny of Dartmouth, MA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6th at 9:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Friday evening between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington.
