Nevzat Karatas, age 83 of Wilmington, DE went to his final resting place on Monday, March 14, 2016. Nicky (Nevs) was born on December 5, 1932 in Karatas, Turkey. He attended University and Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey. After two years of military service, he emigrated to Lexington, KY for an internship in Internal Medicine. His residence training was at Elmhurst City Hospital where he met his wife of 52 years, Terry Lynn. He went into private practice on Long Island, NY and was also a medical director at Suffolk County Developmental Center and long term at South Oaks Hospital. In addition to his wife Terry, he is survived by his son Sudi Karatas, his daughter Sibel (Chris) Gullo, daughter Suzie (Dan) Dougherty, son Kenan (Michelle) Karatas, son Kevin Karatas, sister, Gulden (Yahya) Reyhanoglu, grandchildren Jamie, JoJo, Brian, Kara, Tony and Danny as well as many of other close family members who all loved him dearly.Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17th from 6 PM to 8 PM at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where funeral services will take place on Friday at 10 AM.
