Nathan Edward Bruckert, age 35, of Newark, DE, formerly of Maynard, MA, passed away on October 22, 2020. Born in Concord, MA, on September 12, 1985, he is the son of Diane Dionne and the late Edward Bruckert. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012 with a BS in psychology and biology and was currently working in IT for Bayshore Moving and Storage in Newark, DE. He had previously taught math and science at the junior high school level.
Nathan is survived by his wife of two years, Jessica Ann Thelen, and their beloved cats, Data and Lore; his mother and step-father, Diane and Frank Dionne; his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen Bruckert and Kaarin Lanyi; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Nathaniel Stein; his step-mother, Margaret Bruckert; three step-sisters and their spouses: Erin Murphy and Heidi Crahen, Jennifer and Justin Mercurio, and Cheryl and Todd Crawford; three nephews and a niece: Perry and Oren Stein, Ryan Murphy, and Camber Mercurio; and a host of cousins and extended family.
Nathan was part of multiple online gaming communities that he considered family, one of which was World of Warcraft. He was also an avid tabletop gamer and enjoyed playing role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder, as well as various board games and card games with his friends and family.
Nathan was incredibly caring and was always looking for ways to help people, whether they were family, old friends, new friends, or strangers. One way he showed this care was through cooking; he loved to make meals with his wife and shared food and recipes with anyone who wanted them.
Nathan loved nature and animals. In 2011, he hiked the Maine portion of the Appalachian Trail, beginning at Mount Katahdin; and in 2016, he worked on the trail during the summer months. Most recently, Nathan and his wife had fostered four baby kittens for Faithful Friends Animal Society.
Funeral services will be private at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Faithful Friends Animal Society in Wilmington, DE.
