Age 46 of Newark passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family.Matt was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Leona (Ward) and John J. Hedden, Jr. He was a graduate of Howard High School and a self-employed electrician, owning Matthew Hedden and Son Electric. He was a member of the Boys Club and the New Castle County Irish Society. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed playing and listening to music.Matt is survived by his wife of 17 years, Margriet; his son, Matthew V. Hedden of Hockessin; his daughter, Marissa Hammond of Newark; his sister, Marie Hedden-Bazzoli (Paul) of Pike Creek; his brothers, John J. Hedden, III and Andrew F. Hedden (Bella), all of Wilmington and James P. Hedden (Erica) of Smyrna; his in-laws, Maarten and Coby Jongebreur of Elkton, MD; his brother-in-law, Pieter Jongebreur of Newark and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral services will be held at Red Clay Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11 AM where friends may call after 9 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Boys Club, 669 S. Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 or Delaware Special Olympics, 619 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716.
