Age 97, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 surrounded by her family.Born in Wilmington, Marie was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marguerite (Haggerty) Vadden. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and attended the University of Delaware. For two years, she worked for the DuPont Company. She then served her country proudly as a sergeant in the US Marine Corps during World War II where she met her husband. They married in 1948. As a member of St. John the Beloved Church, she volunteered for bingo and working in the kitchen. She was a member of Delcastle Ladies Golf Association and enjoyed dancing and vacations in Lewes with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John B. Sullivan, in 2008.Marie will be dearly missed by her children and their spouses, John E. of Wilmington, Kevin M. and his wife, Dorina, of Wilmington, Sharon Sullivan Camden and her husband David of Richmond, VA and Larry and Dede of Hockessin; her eleven grandchildren, Ian G., Claire E., Loren I., Erin M., Matthew S., Patrick M., Devin M. and Kyle L. Sullivan and Anna E., Laura M. and Rachel C. Camden; and two great grandchildren, Jaxen and Carter.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 2nd at 12:30 PM at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington where visitation will begin after 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Sisters of St. Francis, 609 Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014.
