Lawrence Cecil Hall "Larry", 81 of Wilmington passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Larry was an avid horse racing fan and self-proclaimed top handicapper at Delaware Park. He traveled to racetracks around the country and attended the Galway Races in Ireland. To celebrate one of his milestone birthdays his family took him to all three races of the Triple Crown. He was proud of the fact that he traveled to all 50 states. But he was most proud of his family.
Larry was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Elsie (Brovelli) and Roderick Hall. He graduated from Wilmington High School Class of 1959 and served in the Army National Guard. Larry worked for 38 years for ICI America in the Operations Department in Electrical Instrumentation. He was a proud member of the New Castle County Irish Society and the Wilmington High School '59 Reunion Committee.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline E. (Hickey) Hall in 2015 and his sister, Mary Stroud.
Larry will be dearly missed by his daughter Deana Casella and her husband, Anthony, his daughter Lauren Hall; his son Andrew and wife Heather; his grandchildren, Caila and Keegan Casella, Alyssa Whittaker (Ethan) and Kyle Hall; his great-grandchildren, Holden Lawrence and Jacqueline Joanne; his sister, Carol Browning and her children Stephen and Rebecca; his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Peggy Hall and their children Kenneth Jr. and Sharyn; his sister Mary's children, Danny, Jonathan, Nicole and Jacky; his sister-in-law, Marie Brady and his nephew, Joseph Bloch and his wife, Jessica and their children, Samantha and Brady; his nephew Larry Frati and his wife, Anne and their children, Lance, Haley and Grace and his neighbors and friends who were like family to him.
The last few months have been very difficult but Larry was surrounded with so much love. His family would like to thank Christiana Care for the exceptional care he received when he was first diagnosed and more recently Delaware Hospice for allowing him to live his last days on his own terms. He spent his final days in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. Larry developed a special relationship with so many of the medical professionals he worked with. We would like to give special thanks to his oncologist Dr. Evan Lapinsky and a very special thank you to Shanthi Balaraman his Nurse Practitioner for her exceptional care and compassion.
Pops, Pop-Pop, Great Grandpop, Big L, Uncle Larry and Mr. Hall no matter what you called him he was well loved by all. He was truly one of a of a kind. To know him was to love him.
