John Zewecke, 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 28, 2022.

John was born in New York City, NY, the son of the late Sophie Samardak and John F. Zewecke. He was in the first graduating class of Delaware Technical and Community College and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired after more than 20 years from the New Castle County Sheriff's Department in 1994 as Assistant Deputy Sheriff. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Santa Maria Council 195 and St. John the Beloved Church. His wife, Margaret Mary (Steers) Zewecke passed away in 2013.

John is survived by his daughter, Tina Marie Zewecke of Milford; his son, John Zewecke, II of Wilmington; his granddaughters, Stephanie Marie, Brittany Anne, Keirstyn Renee and Tianna Alexandria Lewis and his great-grandchildren, Malcolm, Athena and Liyla.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 1 PM at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, where friends may visit after 12 Noon. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
