Age 90, of Newark, De died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2015 at Wilmington Hospital after a brave and determined fight with a short illness. He was born on March 6, 1923 in Wilmington, De to the late Edward and Florence Murray. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWll. He was a master electrician and retired from the I.B.E.W. Local 313 in Wilmington, De.Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sara, who passed away in 1995. He is survived by his sister, Florence Lloyd of Wilmington, De, three sons: John Jr. (Paula). of Wilmington, De, James (Priscilla) of Boca Raton, FL and Michael of Newark, De, eight grandchildren: Sean and Marie Murray of New York City, Erinn Murray Demers, Margaret and James Murray, Jr. of Newark, De., Tabitha, Andrew and Thomas Murray of Newark De, two great grandchildren, and life companion and special family friend Jean Chieffo of Glen Mills, Pa.The family wishes to extend its deepest appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Wilmington Hospital for their exceptional skill and compassion.Visitation will be on Monday, March 2nd at Mealey Funeral Home at Limestone and Milltown Roads in Wilmington, De where family and friends may call from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a service beginning at 12:30 pm.
