Obituary

Age 73, passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2015 at her home in Middletown, DE. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Joanne had touched in some small way throughout her very memorable life. Those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. She was born June 2nd, 1941, in Wilmington, DE to Paul Wesley and Rose Burris who both preceded her in death.Once diagnosed with COPD and Rheumatoid Arthritis four years ago, Joanne never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future " even through countless lung treatments, X-rays, hospitalizations and pain. She continued to religiously take her medications with the hope of getting better.Joanne's interests included family, sitting by her pool, gardening, the Eagles and Phillies. She could put a puzzle together quicker than we could get it out of the box. She was a fan of Dopey of the seven dwarfs and had an affection of dolphins. She devoted much of her time and energy to her family right up to her final days as she tried to reach out to as many as she could. To this day her potato salad is still the best.Joanne was predeceased by her husband James J. Faragher and is survived by her four children, James J. Faragher III, daughter in law Carol, Lisa Williams, Paula Turcol, and Steven Faragher, daughter in law Melissa; seven grandchildren, PJ Turcol, Joe Turcol, Tyler Williams, Zachery Turcol, Austin Faragher, James Faragher Jr., and her darling granddaughter, who was her little princess, Kaitlyn Faragher. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sarah Watts and Lucille Burris.Words cannot express the family's appreciation for all that Joanne's daughter-in-law, Melissa Faragher, did for our Mother the past few years. She made sure her medications were taken, appointments were made, treatments were received, and treated our Mother as if she was her own. Her loving and caring attitude helped us all get through a difficult time and she was a blessing to have by our Mother's side.A visitation will be held at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Thursday March 19th from 7pm to 9pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday March 20th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 801 N. DuPont Highway New Castle, DE 19720. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions be made in Joanne's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 405 E. Marsh Lane #4, Newport, DE 19804, for all the great work they do in time of need. MealeyFuneralHomes.com (302) 652-5913
