Irene Elizabeth Fetters, age 78 of Hockessin, loving and dedicated wife, mother and Granny passed away surrounded by her family on Good Friday, March 25, 2016. Born in Wilmington, DE on April 8, 1937, Irene was the daughter of the late George J. and Irene Elizabeth Yung. While raising a family, she was employed by the Wilmington Trust Co. where she retired after 25 years of service. Irene was the happiest spending time with her family. She also enjoyed the beach, reading, and her monthly luncheons with her dear friends. Irene will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Willard S. Fetters and her four children, Irene S. Berchock (Steven) of Millsboro, Betty Jane Carpenter (James, Jr) of Newark, Joan F. Hertsenberg (Daryl) of Hockessin and William J. Fetters; seven grandchildren, Steven, Scott, Kate, Brooke, Daryl Jr., Alyssa and Dustyn; 3 great grandchildren, Victoria, Scottie, and Brayden; her sister, Joan Gillespie (Al) of Wilmington. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Mealey Funeral Homes, Milltown and Limestone Roads, Wilmington where visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
