Wilmington, DE - A memorial service for Henry J Tandy, Jr. will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 3, 2021 in the chapel of First and Central Presbyterian Church, 1101 N Market St, Wilmington, DE, followed by inurnment of ashes at 3:00 p.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mr. Tandy, 90, passed away February 17, 2021 at his home in Bonita Springs, FL. Born in Scotland, he completed his electrician apprenticeship in the coal mines there, emigrated in 1954, settling in Delaware and working for the Dupont Co. until his retirement in 1989. He was a founding member of the City of Wilmington Pipe Band. In 1959 he became a proud citizen of the United States. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anna Tandy of Bonita Springs; son Kenneth of Wilmington; daughters Jocelyn Coverdale (Ned) of Powells Point, NC, and Gail Chapman (Chris) of Edisto Island, SC.; grandchildren, Kenneth Tandy, Jr. and Jaclyn Tandy, both of Wilmington. He was predeceased by his son Robert Bruce Tandy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spina Bifida Association of America (spinabifidaassociation.org/donate)
