Age 79 of the Jeanne Jugan Residence, Newark, DE passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at her residence.Hazel was born in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of the late Laura Bessie (Sindelar) and Lumir Rudolph Simecek. Hazel retired from the Delaware Turnpike after more than 15 years as a toll collector at the Delaware/Maryland Toll Plaza. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a longtime volunteer at the Jeanne Jugan Residence before it became her home.Hazel is survived by her son Gregory and his wife, Elaine of Newark; her granddaughters, Erin Pudlo and her husband, Paul of Wilmington, Colleen Burg and her fiance, Sean Grizzel of Wilmington and April Burg of Newark; her great-granddaughter, Elin Rae Pudlo; her sisters, Louise F. Kiner and Bessie Jane Mutchie, both of Lincoln, NE and Donna R. West and her husband, Walter of Scottsdale, AZ; her brother, Joseph Simecek and his wife, Lois of Springfield, MO and numerous loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.A Memorial Mass will be held at the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713 on Saturday, August 23rd at 11 AM.
