Gertrude A. Dennis "Trudy", 82 a lifelong Wilmington resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Little Sisters of the Poor.Trudy was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Mary Jane (Miller) and Paul Crumlish, Sr. She was raised on the West side of the city where she was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and then lived at North Van Buren Street where she was a member of Christ Our King Parish. She worked as a dietician for over 18 years at the Little Sisters, Jeanne Jugan Residence. Trudy was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a past president of the Knights of Columbus, Christopher Council Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed baking and crocheting. In addition to her parents, Trudy was predeceased by her brother, Paul Crumlish, Jr. and her husband, Frank R. Dennis in 2000.Trudy is survived by her sons and their wives, Frank P. and Diana of Nixa, MO, Brian R. and Annette of Claymont, Richard J. of Montana, John W. of West Virginia and Christopher M. (Cathy) of Wilmington; her seven grandchildren, Monica, Angelica, Brian, Molly, Eric, Seth, and Amanda; her great grandson, Gabe; her sister Catherine Weber of Grand Rapids, MI. Trudy is also survived by her extended family at Little Sisters of the Poor, especially her close friends Dickie and Betty Grier and her dog, Clancy.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11 AM at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713, where friends may call after 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Little Sisters at the address above.
