George Emanuel Fanos of Wilmington, DE, born on December 5, 1923, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 13, 2017. Originally from New Brunswick, New Jersey, George received his B.S. in Business Administration from Rider College and went on to enjoy a successful career at Chrysler Corporation. George was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and a member of Ahepa. He was very proud of his Hellenic heritage and his service to his country in the United States Army during World War II.George was a gentle and loving man and devoted to his wife and family. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and friends and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. George was an avid reader and historian, and was most loved by everyone for his kind and happy soul.He is predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years Martha Brown Fanos, his parents Mihalis and Kaliopi Fanos, his brother Nicholas Fanos and sisters, Mary Makris and Victoria Aretakis. He is survived by his sister Chrysanthi Gialitis, his 3 daughters and their husbands, Charlotte and G. Michael Mayew, Maria and Williamson P. Donald, and Michelle and Christopher A. Grivas; his grandchildren, Stacie Mayew Pettit, Christina Mayew O'Neal, Laura P. Barker, Christian Pappanicholas, Gina Grivas, Christopher Grivas, and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.Friends may call on Saturday, September 16, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 North Broom Street, Wilmington, Delaware from 9-10 am with funeral services immediately following at 10 am.
