Obituary

"Nana's Little Polish Leprechaun"Gary Jr. was born March 27th, 1968 and died on September 4, 2018, surrounded by his family.Gary attended St. Catherine's School and he graduated from Thomas McKean High School in 1986. As a child he was an alter server for St. Catherine's Church. He had an active and mischievous childhood; he often rode his bike through Brandywine Springs Park. He was an avid crossword puzzle whiz; he made sure to finish as many as he could. He loved the outdoors; things like fishing, gardening, and hiking made him happy. He enjoyed tree work; he especially cherished his work with Dan Mitsdarfer. He found it relaxing to fashion natural walking sticks, one of which went to Medjugorie for blessings. He spent many joyful hours spending time with and taking care of Echo, his brothers' dog. Gary also reveled in music; it really spoke to his soul. His favorites were classic rock from the 70's/80's and country; however in recent years his number one had become Kid Rock. He lived in jeans, t-shirts, work boots, and leather jackets; he presented himself as a rebel-but if you got past the outside he was a sensitive soul. Gary was a loving person, but greatly misunderstood. He was the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover."Gary was preceded in death by his premature daughter, Amelia Loring; his stillborn sister, Jamie Zupon; his grandparents, Charles and Helen (Myrda) Zupon, James Shields, and Anna "Nana" McCann; as well as his godfather and uncle Ronald Zupon.Gary is survived by his daughter, Bobbi Zupon; his parents, Gary and Dorothy (Shields) Zupon; his sisters, Mary Ellen Sheffield and Joanna Pirhalla; his brother, Michael Zupon, with whom Gary lived; his step daughters, Caroline Ritchie and Savannah Loring; his godmother and aunt Joanne Zupon; his aunt, Anna Marie Shields; his nephews: Matthew, Christian, Andrew, and Nicholas; along with many cousins.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday September 15, 2018 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2505 Centerville Road Wilmington, DE 19808.
