Francis P. Dianna, Sr., 96 of Wilmington passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on January 18, 2022.

Franny was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Angeline (Chickadel) and John Di Ianno. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp in World War II and worked 20 years for the Wilmington Fire Department retiring in 1968.  After WFD, Franny worked 19 years as a chauffer for Hercules, Inc. retiring in 1987.  He still kept driving privately for many years.

Franny was a member of the Retired Fireman's Association, the Seaplane Pilots Association, the Civil Air Patrol, Cranston Heights Fire Company and St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, Francis was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Henkel) Dianna in 2015; his daughter, Kathleen Hanna in 2019; his son, Francis P. Dianna, Jr. in 2020.  Left to cherish his memory are his son-in-law, Mark Hanna of Yorklyn; his granddaughters and their husbands, Kristin and Travis Bullock of San Diego, CA and Shelby and Adam Bennett of San Jose, CA; his great-grandchildren, Cameron and Wyatt Bullock and Remy and Jack Bennett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 31, 2022 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2505 Centerville Road at 12:30 PM, where friends may visit after 12 Noon.  Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
