Elwood Irvin Karashin Sr., age 75, of Bear, DE passed away surrounded by his family at Seasons Hospice on November 9, 2017. Born in Johnstown, PA, Elwood was the son of the late Lucy (Wherry) and William Karashin. He was a proud member of the United States Army and served in the Gulf War.He is survived by his wife, Mary Karashin; his son, Elwood Karashin Jr. (Jerry Walker) of Bear, DE; his daughters, Pam Webber of Bear, DE and Jo Ann Young (Jefferson) of Louiseville, OH; his grandchildren, Kevin Webber and Samantha (Chris) Mehek of Tampa, FL, and Jefferson, Savannah, Brittanna, and Alexis Young all of Louiseville, OH; and his 3 great grandchildren, Cassandra, Lilly, and Serenity.A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 15th, 2017 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808, where a service will start at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way # 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
