Elizabeth "Betsy" Durnan, 68, of New Castle, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Betsy was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Geraldine (Murphy) and Paul Kelly. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School and worked as a home insurance claims investigator for companies including Cigna, Discover, and Comcast. Betsy loved the Christiana Mall; some may even call it her second home. She also enjoyed the Christmas Tree Shop, stopping for toffee in Rehoboth Beach, and Serpe & Sons Bakery in Wilmington. Betsy also loved to spend as much time as possible with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Betsy was predeceased by her brother, Jerry Kelly. Betsy is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Jeffry J. Durnan; her sons, Sean Durnan, Casey (Casey Leigh) Durnan, and Jeffry (Scott) McLaughlin; her granddaughter, Willow Marie McLaughlin; brother, Robert "Bob" (Pat) Kelly; sisters, Joy (Bill) Stidham, Paula (Larry) Piazza; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. with funeral services beginning at 11:30 A.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808.
