Our matriarch, our Babcia, Eleanor Wykpisz passed away Thursday, March 23 at her home at the age of 108.She was born in Wilmington on October 5, 1908 and was raised in Browntown. Her father owned Lesnizak Bakery on Brown Street. She attended St. Hedwig's School and graduated from Goldey Business School. After she married, she worked at the Visiting Nurses Association and St. Francis Hospital.She loved bus trips and seeing this beautiful country. She enjoyed helping people, had countless friends from the neighborhood, St. Hedwig's Parish and the Salvation Army Senior Center.She crocheted all her life. Later in life, she cherished visitors and loved to tell her many stories, enjoy a good meal and sing Polish songs.She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiliam and Sophia Lesniczak, her sons Stanley and George, and daughter Phyllis and husband Charles. She is survived by daughters Bernadine (Ronald), RoseAnn (Alex), Carol (Francis), daughter-in-law Patricia, and sons Michael (Betty) and Richard, her sister Jean Sitko. She had 24 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.Special thanks to her youngest children Richard and Carol who took care of her everyday during the past decade of her life.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at St. Hedwig's Church in Wilmington.
