Doris J. (Saye) Whiteside, age 86, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Sunday, July 2nd, at home.Doris was born in Wilmington on August 6, 1930, the only child of the late Herbert R. and Rose M. (Otteni) Saye. Doris was a lifelong homemaker and member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, attending faithfully until her mobility declined 3 years ago. She enjoyed her card club and bowling league in her younger years. She looked forward to the annual vacations in Ocean City, MD and her frequent bus trips to Atlantic City. Her greatest joys, though, were her 7 grandchildren. She loved watching them participate in their many sporting events. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert L. Whiteside in 2006, a son, John M. Whiteside in 2008 and her daughter-in-law, Karen L. Whiteside in 2012. Doris will be dearly missed by her children Lawrence of Donalsonville, GA, Stephen of Orlando, FL, Patricia Rowe (Scott) of Newark, DE, and Leslie Haight (Mike) of Bear, DE; her grandchildren Mark and Jeff Whiteside, Brian and Eric Rowe, and Daniel, Matthew, and Rachel Haight.Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday July 7th from 10AM to 11AM at St. John the Beloved Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels at 100 W 10th St #207, Wilmington, DE 19801.
