Celia K. Karpinski, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Foulk Manor Nursing Home.
Celia was born in 1917, in Thompsonville, CT. She was one of six children, and is the daughter of the late Katherine (Krafczyk) and Antoni Bigos. After graduating from Enfield H.S. and attending business school, she moved to Delaware with her husband, Charles.
Celia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and homemaker who will fondly be remembered for her feisty and outspoken demeanor. She was an outstanding cook and an accomplished pianist who also was the organist of the Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church in Enfield, CT for several years. Celia served on the Junior Board of the Wilmington General Hospital and was a member of Hercules Country Club where she enjoyed tennis. She loved to travel and listen to classical music.
In addition to her parents, Celia was predeceased by her husband, Charles Karpinski, M.D.; her son, Peter Karpinski; and her five siblings. She is survived by her sons, Richard Karpinski, his wife, Patricia of Wilmington, and Phillip Karpinski of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Lauren, Gregory and Matthew, and a great granddaughter expected this November; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A St., Wilmington DE 19801.
