Catherine M. Groff, 80 passed away peacefully on April 26, 2017 at her home.Catherine was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Marie (Cooney) and Jennings Williams. Her husband, John Groff, passed before her along with her sister Patty Glazar. She was a 1954 graduate of P.S. DuPont High School and retired from the Wilmington Trust Company as a customer service representative. Mrs. Groff was always an active member of the church as a former member of St. Ann's Church prior to her moving to Jeanne Jugan Residence. In addition, she was committed to her community as evidenced by her enthusiastic participation in several school, religious and local organizations.Catherine is survived by her children Larry (Marci) Kenney, Catherine (Steve) Pieroski, Michael (Debbie) Kenney, Margaret (Leroy) Brown, Chris (Robin) Kenney, and Paul (Trina) Kenney. Her step-children, Karen (Paul) Wisniewski, Christine Henderson, Linda Murphy, Charles Groff, David Groff, and Thomas (Chrissy) Groff. In addition, she was affectionately known as "GG" to a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a wealth of extended family members and friends.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at St. John the Beloved Church 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington at 11:30 AM, where friends may call after 10 AM. Private Burial will be held on Thursday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be graciously accepted in her name to either the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713 or to Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation, P.O. Box 12468, Beaumont, TX 77726-2468.The family would like to thank the dedicated Sisters, nurses and staff of the Jeanne Jugan Residence for their many years of loving care.
