Catherine E. Marcum "Cathy", 70 of Newark passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Little Sisters of the Poor surrounded by her family.Cathy was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Marie (Scully) and John Sheridan, Jr. She graduated from St. Peter's grade school and William Penn High School. For 38 years, Cathy worked at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, retiring as the Social Service Administrator. She was a former member of St. Peter the Apostle and Holy Family parishes.In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her husband, Darrel Eugene Marcum in 2010; her daughter, Rose Marie Iezzi in September, 2018; her siblings, Michael, Eugene, and John J. Sheridan, III, Martha Rispoli, Rita Pfirrmann and Janet Woods.Cathy is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph and Diane Arcidiacono, Scott Marcum, Andrew Marcum, Julie McMullen; her son-in-law, Thomas Iezzi, her grandchildren, Julia Arcidiacono, Joshua Fielder, Michael Sloenecker and Raven McMullen; her great-grandson, Jasper Eugene Sloenecker; her brother, Anthony Sheridan and her sisters, Barbara DiAlessandro and Tina Woerner.Cathy's family would like to express their love and gratitude to the sisters and staff of the Little Sisters of the Poor.Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713 on Tuesday form 5 to 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11 AM. Burial in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor at the above address.
