Cary Joel Sumser, age 52, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

Cary was raised in Delaware by his parents, Marilyn (Schlipf) and F. Lance Sumser. He graduated from high school and proudly served our country in the Air National Guard. Cary began his career as an electrician/ fiberoptics tech. later on became a Project manager for SecureNet. Cary had many interests, but nothing could match up to his love for Harley motorcycles. In his free time, Cary enjoyed watching sports, fishing, participating in charity runs, and going to the beach. Cary was predeceased by his wife Catherine Sumser.

Cary is survived by his father, F. Lance Sumser (Patricia); mother, Marilyn Liston (Clayton); son, Cary Sumser Jr. (Kelley); daughters, Amy Walls Troup (Bryan), Elynn Sumser (Brandon), and Samantha Wadding (Bryce); grandchildren, Damien Walls, Timothy Everidge, Hannah Walls, Ivy Sumser, Harper Sumser, Gunner Wadding, and Beau Wadding; brothers, Randy Liston (Tammy), Robert Liston, and William Liston; sister, Maranda Wise (Thomas); niece, Ashley Liston; and nephew Schown Doss and numerous close family friends who he all loved.

A vsitation for Cary will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Cary's name to Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
