Dr. Beth R. Schubert, OB/GYN, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on June, 3, 2016 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by family and friends.Dr. Schubert, daughter of James E. and Cathrine F. Ruper, was born in the San Diego Naval Hospital. She graduated from Penn State University in 1987 with a degree in Biology/Genetics and then graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University) in 1991. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1995 at the State University of New York, Syracuse, and then practiced OB/GYN in Elkton, MD, Newark, OH, and northern DE for over 20 years.She loved to spend time with her family traveling, cooking, attending theatre, and having fine meals. In her little spare time, she was a craftsman who enjoyed knitting, sewing, spinning, weaving, dressmaking, and jewelry making. But most of all, she smiled with every patient she helped and each newborn she delivered.In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael T. Schubert, two daughters, Margaret and Olivia Schubert; three brothers, David J. Ruper of West Chester, PA, Marc C. Webb (husband of John D. Waugh) of San Diego, CA, and Edmond Meinfelder of San Francisco, CA.Friends are invited to pay respects from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Church of the Advent, 401 North Union Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348 at 11:00 where visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of services. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
