After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Aldo (Al) A. Pellegrini, age 92 of Wilmington, DE passed peacefully at home on November 7, 2021. Born in Reading, PA on December 4, 1928, Al was the son of Umberto and Gina (Lovo) Pellegrini where he grew up with 2 siblings, Olga and Guido Pellegrini.
Al was a huge football fan and enjoyed season tickets to U of DE games. He loved spending time with his family, camping, fishing and anything to do with the beach. He was active in Boy Scouts and many other community activities including 40 years of volunteer work with the Pike Creek Valley Lions Club. During his service, he was recognized with the Melvin Jones Award for outstanding dedication to the club's many community outreach programs and served as club president for several years. Additionally, Al was a long time member of Limestone Presbyterian Church. But most importantly, his entire life was about sacrifice and hard work to ensure his family was provided for.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Pellegrini; daughter, Sandy Boyko (and Chuck, Landenberg, PA) and son, Gary Pellegrini (and Ingrid, Newark, DE); grandchildren, Brandon Pellegrini (of Smyrna, DE) and Kristina Marie Pellegrini (of Baton Rouge, LA). Al was predeceased by his first wife, Gail (Haldeman) Pellegrini (of Reading, PA), and his son, Richard Pellegrini (of Sinking Spring, PA).
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Bayada Home Health Care and Bayada Hospice for their loving care and devotion during his illness.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to Pike Creek Lions Club via www.lionsclubs.org.
