The grieving process can sometimes be delayed due to the overwhelming number of decisions necessary in the days following the death of a family member. Often, the full impact of your loss is not realized until your family and friends have gone home and you are left alone. But, remember please, that you are not alone. Our staff is eager and qualified to help you. There are several ways that we can assist you through this difficult time. The Memory Store at our Limestone Road facility (click here for directions) has many books, tapes, and CD’s concerning bereavement. The topics are varied– loss of a parent, loss of a child, explaining death to a teenager, even how to cope with the death of a beloved pet. The Memory Store is open Monday through Friday, 12 noon to 4 PM or by appointment. In New Castle County,
we have several excellent support groups to help you no matter what the
circumstances of your loss. (Click here for a list).
Many people prefer the anonymity of the Internet for their questions and
chats. There are many excellent websites to assist you. (Click
here to view). In December, 2002, Regina Giannone-Tyler joined the staff of Mealey Funeral Homes. Regina has been a bereavement coordinator since 1990, and has a radio talk show, “Mourning Comfort” on AM 1290 Radio on Saturday mornings. As part of our commitment to continue to serve you, Regina will call you within two months after the death of your family member. If you desire, she will guide you through the grieving process with compassion and sensitivity to your family’s needs. Suggested reading:
